Sprint Runs vs. Flash Batch vs. Variations
Sprint Runs: Are a special version of an existing or discontinued Spyderco model. Sprints are not to be confused with just regular Variations, which are also versions of an existing model, but usually only involve a small change like edge configuration or scale color. Sprints are fancier, i.e. use exotic steel, or have engraving on the blade, or are based off a previously discontinued knife, etc.
Flash Batch: Like Sprint Runs, which are unique, limited-edition production runs of either current models or classic, discontinued designs, a Flash Batch is a truly distinctive, one-time-only event. A Flash Batch showcases a brand-new design that has not been previously produced and will never be duplicated in the exact same form again. To make them even more unique and collectible, Flash Batches are individually serialized with a laser-engraved number on every blade.
Quantities are generally limited to 1200 units for both Sprint Run and Flash Batch knives. Sprint Run and Flash Batch knives are extremely hard to find as authorized dealers who are accepted into the Premier Program are only allotted a few of each model upon release.
Variations: Are versions of an existing model, but usually only involve a small change, e.g. edge configuration, scale color, etc.
